CBC Interviews SSEP Team

“CBC Newfoundland Morning” host Martin Jones interviewed SSEP Director Alison Cox and Administrator Melissa Keats on April 7, 2026 – “Sparking an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math WISE NL tells us about their summer job program for Grade 11 girls.”

“Whether you’re talking climate change, artificial intelligence, or NASA’s latest expedition to the Moon, The headlines are filled with stories about science and technology. And the people working in those industries are helping shape the future. That’s why the organization Women in Science and Engineering NL (or WISE NL) is encouraging young women and girls to get involved in STEM fields. Every summer, they offer up employment opportunities to grade 11 girls in this province. For more about the program, we spoke with Melissa Keats, Program Administrator at WISE. And Alison Cox, director of the student summer employment program.”
